Despite allegations of involvement in money laundering this year, banks in India got the thumbs up from people in 2012, says a survey by strategic consultant, Gallup, which was released in Washington on Monday.
The survey said 70 per cent respondents in India said ‘yes’ when they were asked, “In India, do you have confidence in each of the following, or not? How about financial institutions or banks?”
A total of 18 per cent said ‘no’, and 13 per cent either said ‘don’t know’ or refused to answer. The survey was conducted in India and 134 other countries in 2012. The results are based on telephone and face-to-face interviews with approximately 1,000 adults aged 15 and older in each of these countries.
