NEW DELHI, DEC. 13:
Nearly five lakh bank employees propose to go on strike on December 20 to protest against the Government’s attempts to hasten with proposed amendments to banking laws. The strike call has been given by the All-India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and Bank Employees Federation of India, said C. H. Venkatachalam, General-Secretary, AIBEA . Both AIBEA and BEFI are also opposed to attempts to group the banks for functional co-ordination with a view to ultimately merge them.
